Async Museum is an independent space for web art. Our mission is to discover artists who use the web as their practice, and recognize their work as a new aesthetic. Our philosophy is rooted in one idea:

The web browser is a twenty-first century canvas.

Hi, I’m Joohyun, founder of Async Museum.

My path into computational media began in art school. What captivated me was the browser itself: a dynamic, open medium capable of turning code into responsive, living art. A work could respond to someone’s touch, and reach them anywhere, instantly.

That potential has driven my work ever since. But there was no right space for browser-native art: too interactive for a gallery, too conceptual for commercial websites, too web-bound for physical installation.

So I built Async Museum.

Now we’re shaping it together with the artists pushing the web forward, and the curious minds who come to experience their work.
